6. Energy and Atmosphere
Logical Green can help you get the Educational Component LEED Credit in the Innovation & Design Category
There are a total of five LEED credits available for Innovation and Design. One of these is the Educational Component Credit. This educational component explains to both occupants and visitors the project’s environmentally sustainable aspects as well as outlines the basics of the LEED rating system. The LEED certification states that this educational component must be continually on display throughout your project or building as either informative signage, power point presentations, demonstrations, educational videos, or other instructional methods. At Logical Green Institute, we have developed an easy, cost effective solution to earn this credit, one that provides the educational component of the innovation credit as well as an opportunity to market your project; The Customizable LEED Educational Video. We have successfully used these videos on many LEED projects throughout Palm Beach County and surrounding areas, always being accepted for the LEED Innovation Credit by the Green Building Certification Institute.
LOGICAL GREEN wants to work with YOU to bring state of the art, full-service video production to showcase the green attributes of your project.
Our History in Creating LEED Educational Component Videos in Palm Beach County, FL
Essential to your project’s success, is a professional presentation of your project and its green attributes. Whether focusing on its energy or environmental friendliness, especially in today’s world of increasing number of corporate users insisting on operating from a green building, or for submittal for the innovation in design credit on your LEED submittal, our educational videos will showcase your project to all viewers.
Logical Green Institute partners Rob Hank and Jeff Collins, have successfully produced LEED educational videos for our projects and clients for a number of years. Rob’s primary occupation is Principal of the Spinnaker Group, a LEED consulting firm. We have been involved in over 200 LEED projects worldwide with nearly 50 certified projects. Rob is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council LEED faculty, and has conducted LEED workshops for over 3,000 professionals. Additionally Rob is LEED accredited in building design, construction operations, and maintenance, as well as neighborhood development.
The Birth Of The LEED Educational Video Display took place when Jeff and Rob collaborated on a Silver LEED Certified medical office building in South Florida, an anticipated major renovation when “going green” was in its infancy in the South Florida market.
The partnership began as a national educational organization providing training to professionals in the Sustainable Green Building and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating Systems.
We are keenly aware and focused on the importance of having an educational component in LEED projects. As a LEED consultant there is one credit which we pursue on almost every project. It’s the Innovation in Design Process credit you can achieve for having an educational component as part of your project. This educational component explains to both occupants and visitors the project’s environmentally sustainable aspects as well as outlines the basics of the LEED rating system.
There are different ways to obtain this credit, from signage with accompanying narratives, to power point presentations. But these require much time and effort to put together, and must be changed often as the project progresses. It’s typically a considerable expense as the project proceeds and offers no additional benefits. At Logical Green Institute, we have developed an easier, cost effective solution, one that provides the educational component of the innovation credit as well as an opportunity to market your project; The Customizable LEED Educational Video. We have successfully used these videos on many LEED projects, always being accepted for the LEED Innovation Credit by the Green Building Certification Institute.
For many of our clients, we have produced the video at project initiation, usually starting with renderings for project marketing purposes, and then, once we have actual photos of the project, we transition it to show the finished building upon project completion. For presentations, we can install a flat panel TV in a central location, such as a lobby, and then run the video on a continuos loop. We have also seen a video on a kiosk application, or have used a portion of a video as part of a component of an electronic directory, as well as tied to the project website, or even at unmanned booth at trade shows. Its application is truly unlimited.
Bottom line, you achieve success on two levels, a professional submittal for a LEED Innovation in Design Process Credit, while simultaneously enhancing the branding of your project and your company’s image on a cost effective level that won’t impact your budget. The best news, its easy, just send us your project information, such as LEED score card and site photos. Especially have specific project attributes such as cisterns being installed, dual flush toilets, reflective roof, etc. outlined. It’s your choice what you want to highlight and we’ll produce and deliver the video. If requested we’ll even provide you with a stock invitation letter and a sample tour script which has been successfully submitted to GBCI for when you’re ready to invite the AIA or local USGBC chapter to tour your facility.
